Faces of Death
A series of drawn faces, worked through in ink and pencil.
SeriesPortfolio
A curated collection of finished and ongoing series by Nathan Menglesis, gathered from the drawing, ink, pencil and painting work documented on this site.
Series
Each series below has been developed across the sketchbook pages and process notes on this site.
Menglef.org is a showcase for furnishing lovely real oak paneled homes, combining a warm sense of interior craft with a clean, modern presentation. The site’s visual language moves between deep near-black backgrounds, muted slate-blue accents, and off-white content panels, allowing each section to feel distinct while remaining part of one coherent whole. Photographic moments set against a vivid violet-purple backdrop add depth and character, while the generous spacing keeps the pages calm, readable, and easy to navigate.
The portfolio presents a curated collection of finished and ongoing series, gathering work documented through drawing, ink, pencil, and painting. Works in progress sit alongside miscellaneous sketches and broader bodies of work, giving visitors a sense of an evolving creative practice rather than a fixed catalogue. Each series is introduced in a focused, measured way, with a restrained typographic approach and simple filled buttons that echo the crisp, minimal-radius framing found throughout the site.
Subjects explored across the portfolio include drawn faces, studies of shape and volume, and thematic work developed through ink washes and pencil. The emphasis falls on process: sketches, process notes, and finished pieces are treated as part of the same unfolding body of work. The dark and light section transitions help each grouping stand apart, while the bright blue call-to-action button provides a clear visual anchor and a natural point of return as readers move between series and supporting material.
Across the site, the furnishings theme of real oak paneling is carried by an atmosphere of considered craft, texture, and warmth. Sans-serif typography keeps headlines and body copy unified, with bold white headings against dark fields and navy headings over light panels. Centered text columns support comfortable reading, and solid color-block dividers replace decorative borders or shadows. The result is a polished, professional presentation in which artwork, interior inspiration, and careful design work together without clutter or unnecessary ornament.
