i actually got not one, but two photographers to come to my studio and take pictures of the things i have been up to these past years that just cant be crammed into even the largest of scanners. one is no less than an art historian and photographer, a dream combo come true, but something about the poor lighting in my studio and number of mediums i cram onto paper, or just my delusions as to what i am drawing versus the photographic evidence to the contrary, it always makes these things never really seem to come out as i thought they appeared. but, i have decided to at least make a lazy post of it as this site is rather neglected as of late.
so, many many thanks to andreas baudisch for the photos, i took some minor liberties with levels and such to try to get it closer to what i think i see when i am in my studio.
stuff i have been going on and on about the past few years. photo by andreasbaudisch.de
works often in progress but not so much at this point in time, blame the commonwealth. here are some photos i took in order to give purpose to my day:
i made a couple of drawings recently that were attempts at a sort of field of hatching, drawing in a .zip file. photoshop seems unable to photomerge the scanned parts. and i have given up on it. i like the messy scan more anyways.
the thrill of photoshop
never know where it will auto align
also some pages from a zine under slow construction:
here is that big as drawing which i have been mining for nearing two years now, soon the pick axe will be placed down (relatively speaking soon, some people might say a couple more months of working on one drawing is in itself a long time…)
my photos look like crap
i should get a new camera
i mean this one is like, 6 years old…
really dlsr or something better
the details are turned to mud
mud cake for all
glare/blur, awww yiss
i cannot take a straight photo/draw a straight line
and here is some sketch book shit, it is raw, real and more stupid than i can be held accountable for.
fill a page with shit
watch TV and draw
too much rick and morty stuff got me wanting to do a comic
what’s new here… well there is a new leg in the NEVERENDINGWIP. and i worked on that leg to no end, some prior me came in before and drew a tiny tiny knee on that man, and it looked silly, and more wrong than is acceptable. funny yes, but wrong. the knee has been adjusted with a scalpel. and and…. yes his legs are long, but hey, el greco up yours too. also, random shit.
and hey, why not listen to someone smart say why emotion is central to art and he even means urinals in galleries or something about religion being these spaces of wonder before the art was moved out to the galleries, fuck it, or just listen to sleep.
