as it seems, writing applications to get some of this governments cheese. is it the lowest? should it be taken, oh sweet sweet subsidy? are you the foulest treat of all, will you turn all of us sour, make us wish for days of churning butter? well if you must ‘make that money’ then you should perhaps go for broke, why ask for money from the government when you could as well ask for it from burger king, for sure they are no more evil than any national body?

in this spirit, and the spirit of taking a break from writing application time, menglefian advertisement agency presents “have it your way” out first in a series of ads for burger king.

in an unrelated notes, from the archives with a dash of fresh digital color, the “beans and macaroni” comic idea was slightly brought back to life last night, here is an example of the “townies” from this once blossoming idea snuffed out so swiftly.

and finally, though some progress has occured in ‘the donkey show’, it is still not finished and remains on my desk restrained in layers of loving tape.

earlier in the start of the summer i felt i needed to make more cartoons in my sketchbooks and color them in on the computer, try to develop a quicker style to make stuff in, to make comics with as well. here is some of that.

and last week i got a book of stock photography and it is full of material. so i started this study of sorts.

also this seems to have come off of tim burtons desk or something. i believe it says, get out of the house.

i like articles about multitasking. i know it is bad. more confirmation makes me more likely to walk away from the screen and just sit at the table and draw in that slow motion mode.

right now: 1. drinking coffee. 2. writing this while eating cereal. 3. thinking about how much time i should spend drawing today and when i should get to doing that instead of multitasking from the buttbrain. 4. chatting 5. watching tv. 6. making homemade ice cream, sambal flavored. 7. throwing bubblegum out the window at passerby. 8. attempting to pick up a variety of sticks/straws with my toes. 9. clenching and unclenching various anatomical bits in caffeine jitter. 10. looking over a list of todos and lists made in the last week for groceries, laundries, sundries, bread makers tasks, favorite brands of nacho chips, and finally my list which keeps track of how many pencil leads are left in the various mechanical pencils laying around.  also i am wondering why my computer seems to be choking slightly. maybe it has eaten a bag of mixed multitaskings and is now semi-brain dead too.

i remember when i had a notebook and a sketchbook in a bag and i would use one or the other. never both. and i had a lot of focus on which ever it was, and seemed to think i had much more time to do either without ever measuring time spent.

this has been part of an ongoing series in ways to offend time and excuse myself from the donkey show and its ongoing horror of trip-ups.
see figure b-2; ‘the horror.’

may the lord shine some light upon this fucking skrew up. end prayer. unhappy accident.

but. at least the donkey has recovered from what once seemed like a intractable mess of shit.

and themes being of hope and all, if the donkey managed, perhaps the rest of this ever deepening inktrocity can be reconciled.

i just photographed this. i tried to photograph another painting, but with the wind + lack of tripod + the canvas not being stretched tight enough, its just kept coming out like shit. so this is all for today. this was done in 2007, for a show, i had a thing for trying meat colors at the time. i like the black table and chair.

if and when the image is starting to get a bit too bogged down, too tightened, or too close to the finish line but somehow a fake finish line, an imposed one, then it needs fog, blur, and a bit of room to stretch. because when it started there was so much of that sort of room and it was certainly more fun to work on everyday. but when its winding down and the sense of being in the corner and having to make those last bits pull together in a boring linear fixed sorta way, the ‘how to draw comics the marvel way’ finale comes back to bite my ass.

a favorite escape is tape, tape can tear layers off of the page which aren’t working, second, duplication of needed elements cause i got them wrong on the first try. now this is being applied in the “donkey show”.

lets see:

her face was getting chewed off in some crappy overdone shadow between her and the bird, causing her to have lost the chubby cheek cuteness that was in the original sketch [you can click, but you could just scroll a bit down]. this possibility of wiping some of the face off with some tape is tricky. and after lots of attempts at fixing the face, the tape face mutilation was last resort. it opens the possibility of redrawing the face back in, but the paper is shittier underneath the top layer. so, duplication should be done too, there may wind up being three of these girls at the going rate, the story doesnt really work without her/the bird, so better to repeat it 3x than get it wrong once and accept it or hope no one notices the gross stylistic mismatch. the new one on the right was traced in from a print out of the original sketch which had been scanned in. this could be a doomed beginning. uncertain.

its going bad in this little corner. understand this face is smaller than my thumbnail. and trying to get it to look sharp in pen and ink, is near impossible it seems. and some mysterious deformity crept in on this as it went from a sketch, which looked good, see below:

now she seems to have lost all cuteness. the smile got weird. i dont know how it happened. im very uncertain as to what to do to fix it and last night it was all heading up frustration hill alsmost to the point of scribble-it-out-ville, thats the end of frustartion everytime, scribble it out, so i had to stop. and instead play video games. and tonight im afraid to go near it. its so small a section, yet if its fucked, well a lot of the plot if fucked then too. so its off to the comic festival instead. beer too! this has been a confession of Defty K. oh and.

added this donkey matter cloud junk today [on the 3rd of june]. really not deserving of its own post. but i am lazy. so i drew this instead of working on the “real” donkey show. so it seems fitting to tag this onto other partial thoughts.

finished this sh_miece_piece. well mostly finished, or finished enough for me to say, enough, enough already, move on, let go, it’ll be ok. volcanoes exploded, pens were moved to volcanic lines, crossing boundries, not formed by nature but respected by history according to one driver, some new nibs were sought n’ bought for caressin’ ribs.the lil’ on the left has a lil’ piggy in a cart and the lil’ on the right has a lil’ kitty. the one on his shoulder is a big fan of ‘exhumed’. the line making part with the hair prolly best interesting moments in drawing. lots of it was done in what was the K K bakery, but has since been renamed, irem or something boring. nice people and coffee.

two of the lil drawings are of the homeless man hanging out in neu koln berlin, [from my head, not life] he is speaking his tribal language of english but not making any sense, well honestly i dont think i gave him a fair shake, maybe he is making sense, but i never listened, i am fearful of getting close enough to smell him, but how posh of me, it was questioned how is it he orders the coffee he sometimes has, if he cannot seem to make any sense. he sits by the aldi in a big winter coat and its summer out. he has the hood pulled tight and his beard just erupts from it in all its tangled matted glory of grease and mystery. sometimes he seems to be having a deep conversation with the man photographed on the lotto advertisements. he is a giant in my head and i think he can see the universe or something else someone so posh may grant on a ‘humble native’ of neu koln.

and now the donkey show

this is A2 in size, so it takes 4 scans, and that always comes with those lines from where the different scanned bits meet up and fight for levels. if it was the big finale, it would be edited out, but this is no big fin. its still all w.i.p.[py]. but i figure its worth a scan in and a rank in on the world wide web and a second look at it for myself, cause just looking at it on paper is no way to hold things up to the standards of the web and all that it needs in glossy images, so how does it look in pixels too. and moreso how much work has been done since last scan, can i measure this?

yes itll be ok. ok. how completely re-assured is this head? maybe not so. hmmm. beanie not all that was promised? like calvins disspaiontment, how much cereal was eaten for that beanie sir?
